SAN JOSE, Calif., March 14, 2017 – Innovium, Inc. a provider of networking silicon solutions for data centers and Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a leader in high-speed data movement interconnects, today announced a single switch chip based reference design solution that will enable system vendors to develop the industry’s first single switch system for 12.8Tbps (128 X 100GbE) QSFP28 deployments. The reference design uses Innovium’s 12.8Tbps TERALYNX Ethernet switch silicon and Inphi’s 4-Level Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM4) chipset. This solution leverages the robust ecosystem of 100G optics and copper connectivity solutions, dramatically reducing complexity, power, latency and cost, along with superior performance, analytics and programmability compared to solutions using multiple 3.2Tbps or 6.4Tbps switch chips.
“As the pioneer of PAM based electronics for 40/50/100/200/400G, Inphi continues to enable a successful PAM4 ecosystem, leading the industry to the new world of terabit cloud optical interconnects. The 12.8Tbps reference design with Inphi’s PAM4 silicon in conjunction with Innovium’s new single switch chip is yet other major achievement in direct response to what data center operators require in the networking world,” said Siddharth Sheth, vice president of marketing, Networking Interconnect at Inphi.
Built on top of Inphi’s solid foundation of DSP architecture and low power SerDes, the PAM4 chipset offers customers a compelling PAM4 to NRZ gearbox solution. Inph’s PAM4 is built on a highly configurable and adaptable InphiNity™ Core Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engine that can be targeted to multiple different performance oriented applications for optical and copper based interconnects, while keeping a low power profile. With PAM4 modulation transforming Ethernet deployments, Inphi is at the forefront with the only chipset portfolio that can deliver a custom-built, high-density, low-power and standard-compliant solution that delivers 40/50/100/200/400G within and between data centers.
“We are excited to collaborate with Inphi to provide the world’s first 12.8Tbps (128 X 100GbE) reference design that will replace six to 12 existing switches for equivalent switching capacity,” said Rajiv Khemani, CEO and Co-founder of Innovium. “Large scale data center customers are experiencing explosive traffic growth and this reference design with Inphi will address their needs while reducing complexity and simplifying operations.”
Innovium TERALYNX™ is the world’s highest performance and most scalable Ethernet switch silicon family that leapfrogs the industry with an innovative architecture optimized for data centers. Innovium TERALYNX is the industry’s first switch that shatters the 10 terabits per second (Tbps) performance barrier in a single-chip, while delivering breakthrough telemetry and automation, line-rate programmability and best-in-class low-latency, resulting in a 6x advantage compared to alternatives. TERALYNX includes broad support for 10/25/40/50/100/200/400GbE Ethernet standards and becomes the world’s first product to deliver 128 ports of 100GbE, 64 ports of 200GbE or 32 ports of 400GbE in a single device.
